LEBANON — After less than 18 months on the job, Listen Community Services said that its executive director, Rob Roy McGregor, is “moving on” and Development Director Kristi Lenart-Rikert will serve as acting executive director, according to a memo sent to staff this week.
“We thank Rob for his leadership, especially on improving our Thrift store operations and reducing our environmental footprint. We wish him success in his new endeavors,” Ken Wells, chairman of Listen’s board, said in the memo.
Listen gave no reason for the abrupt change in leadership and Wells said via email the organization would have no further comment. McGregor joined Listen in March, 2023, after spending 19 years as president and CEO of the Southern District YMCA in Exeter, N.H.
McGregor could not immediately reached.
Lenart-Rikert, a veteran nonprofit manager who joined Listen earlier this year, previously had been director of operations at Easterseals Vermont, where she worked for nearly for nearly 20 years.
“We are grateful she has stepped up to support Listen in this transition period,” Wells said, adding the board “will be determining next steps regarding the ED position and we’ll communicate more as we get further down that road.”
The surprise departure of McGregor follows by only two weeks the prison sentencing of former Listen executive director Kyle Fisher, who pleaded guilty to embezzling funds from the nonprofit that he spent on gambling at a casino in Massachusetts.
