BRADFORD, Vt. – The Additional Recyclables Collection Center, or ARCC, reopened on Monday, but now accepts fewer items for disposal. Damage from July’s flooding had kept the facility shuttered for four months.

Bradford, Chelsea, Fairlee and Tunbridge are among the towns served by the recycling center, which is operated by the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District.

ARCC accepts items that can’t typically be disposed of at other facilities, including computers, batteries, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, food scraps and cooking oil. 

Due to the flooding damage, the following items are among those no longer accepted: books, bubble wrap, pellet and cereal bags, cigarette butts, skis and snowboards, shoes, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records.

Through Friday, customers will receive $1.50 off their total recycling charge. The facility only accepts cash or check.  

ARCC is located at 540 North Main Street in Barre. It’s open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

On open weekdays, operations are closed for lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
