Claremont woman dies in I-91 crash

CLAREMONT — A 53-year-old Claremont woman died Monday night after driving into the back of a plow truck on Interstate 91, according to a news release from Vermont State Police. 

Kimberly Barsalou was driving a 2009 Dodge Journey on I-91 southbound in Westminster, Vt., on Monday at about 8 p.m. when she drove into the back of a Vermont Agency of Transportation plow truck that was salting the roadway. There was light precipitation and the road was wet.

Barsalou was pronounced dead on scene.

The operator of the plow truck Christopher Becker, 62, of Springfield, Vt., was taken to Springfield Hospital with minor injuries.

The Dodge Journey suffered “substantial front end” damage and the plow truck, a 2015 International 999, incurred “minor rear end” damage, according to the release. 

Police were assisted on the scene by Westminster Fire Department, Golden Cross Ambulance, Rescue Inc., the Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Division, the Agency of Transportation, SG Reed towing and J&M Auto.
