WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Construction crews are building an access road near VA Cutoff Road this week to facilitate a bridge replacement project scheduled for next year.

Motorists can expect delays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, according to a news release from the Vermont Agency of Transportation. In addition to VA Cutoff Road, work — which includes the installation of erosion and sediment control systems along the south side of the White River — will also be taking place around Mill and Old River roads.

The access road is being built prior to replacment of the VA Cutoff Road bridge that spans the White River and connects with Maple Street (Route 4) in Hartford Village. That project is expected to start in June 2024.
