Article of note: One article on the school warrant asks voters whether they support creating a committee to collaborate with the Plainfield School District to study the feasibility of a cooperative district. Another asks whether voters will support creating a Middle School Consolidation Committee to consider how to work with the Plainfield School District to jointly serve the needs of students in grades 6-8.

Contested races:Four people are running for two three-year seats on the School Board: Maggie Andrews, Justin Ranney, Jonathan Reovan and Jason Tetu. Two people are running for one seat as library trustee: Laura Cousineau and Karen Gillock.

Budgets and other spending articles: The proposed school budget is $5.4 million, which is up from $5.08 million last year. The school warrant also asks whether voters support raising $70,000 to add to the capital reserve fund. The proposed highway budget is $817,000, up from last year’s $759,000. The proposed general fund is $675,000, which is up from $640,000 last year. 

When, where and how to vote: The annual school meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. in the Cornish Elementary School gym; polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ballot voting for town officers is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the school gym. The floor meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. in the school gym.
