The Federal Emergency Management Agency has added Grafton County to a major disaster declaration made earlier this month over an April nor’easter in New Hampshire, the governor announced Tuesday.

It was added after additional preliminary damage assessments “found enough damage to reach the County’s predetermined disaster declaration threshold,” Gov. Chris Sununu’s office said in a news release.

“This addition will allow more communities to make use of relief funding,” Sununu said.

A preliminary damage assessment from FEMA estimated the cost of statewide response efforts at more than $6.7 million, the governor’s office said earlier this month. The costs for Grafton County’s response efforts are $450,295, according to the Tuesday release.

Belknap, Carroll, Rockingham, and Sullivan counties were included in the original declaration.
