TUNBRIDGE — Voters in the two-town First Branch Unified School District approved an operating budget of $8.4 million at a floor meeting on Monday night.

In a paper ballot vote, 84 voted for the budget and 62 voted no.

The budget is up from last year’s of $7.7 million, but below the previously warned budget of $8.6 million, which the board rescinded to make spending cuts.

From the floor on Monday, voters elected Susan Kay to a three-year term representing Chelsea on the two-town board. Kathy Galluzzo earned a three-year term representing Tunbridge and Stacy Dion was elected for one year remaining on a three-year term representing Tunbridge.

By voice vote, voters approved transferring $167,000 to the district’s capital reserve fund from a $522,000 surplus, as well as a transfer of $267,000 from that surplus to a tuition reserve fund.
