Annual meeting preview: New teachers contract on Hanover ballot

Article of note: Voters will be asked whether to appropriate $75,000 from the Don S. Bridgman Fund in the 2024-25 school year “in order to afford additional advantages to the students of the District not provided by taxes.”

Contested races: There are four candidates competing for three, three-year terms on the School Board: Kelly Fender McConnell, Deborah H. Bacon Nelson, Anastasia Rodzianko and Marcela DiBlasi.

Budget and other spending articles: The proposed budget is $15.15 million, which is up from $15.12 million last year. A separate article asks whether voters support the cost of a new three-year collective bargaining agreement between the Hanover Education Association and the Hanover School Board. The first year of the contract is to cost $409,000. 

When, where and how to vote: The annual district meeting, at which no voting will take place, is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 29 at 5 p.m. at Hanover High School. Ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hanover High gym.
