HARTFORD — Sue Buckholz has resigned her position on the Selectboard. Her departure was announced at the beginning of Tuesday’s meeting by Selectboard Chairman Mike Hoyt.
Hoyt did not offer an explanation for the resignation but thanked Buckholz for her service to the board.
Hartford voters elected Buckholz to the board last March. Her term expires in March of 2026.
Buckholz is an attorney who served for one-term, from 2017 to 2019, in the Vermont House, representing a district that included Hartford. She also previously served as town moderator and as chairwoman of the Hartford Board of Civil Authority.
She did not return phone or email requests for comment by deadline.
Whether the Selectboard appoints a replacement or leaves Buckholz’s seat vacant, a public vote will need to be held at Town Meeting in March to elect someone to carry out the final year of her term.
At its next meeting on Nov. 12, the board will address the vacancy and decide how they want to proceed, Town Manager John Haverstock said by phone Wednesday.
