Articles of note: A petitioned article to be voted on by paper ballot during the floor meeting asks whether voters will ask the Selectboard to remove Town Manager Brigette Codling. Two other petitioned articles on the town warrant, not supported by the Selectboard, ask voters whether they support appropriating $480,000 for the Woodsville Highway Department and $207,000 for the Woodsville Fire Department. Last year, voters approved $299,000 for the Woodsville Highway Department and $147,000 for the fire department.

Contested races: There are five candidates running for two open seats with three-year terms on the Haverhill Selectboard: Stephen Robbins, Vicki Wyman, Richard Guy, Joseph Longacre and Phil Blanchard.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed municipal operating budget is $5.1 million, which is expected to result in a tax rate of $5.98 per $1,000 of property value or $1,496 on a home valued at $250,000. It is up from a $4.25 million budget voters approved last year. The proposed school operating budget is $15.6 million, which is up from the $15.3 million proposed last year. Another school article asks whether voters support a new teachers contract, which is expected to cost $287,000 in the first year.

When, where and how to vote: The Haverhill Cooperative School District is scheduled to hold its annual school meeting on March 18 at 9 a.m. at the Haverhill Cooperative Middle School in North Haverhill. Town Meeting ballot voting is slated for March 14 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the James R. Morrill Building, also known as town hall, and the in-person Town Meeting is March 18 at 1 p.m. at the middle school, following the school meeting.
