Boys Soccer

Hartford 2
Green Mountain Valley 1

Key players: Hartford — Sam Peckinpaugh.

Highlights: Hartford controlled the game early on and generated some early chances in Friday’s VPA Division II quarterfinal. GMVS scored its lone goal on a long free kick by Cannon Parsons in the 24th minute of the first half. For only the second time all season, Hartford itself trailing at halftime. Peckinpaugh scored a free-kick goal to level the score 1-1 at 17:08 of the second half. Neither team could find a second goal before the end of regulation. Hartford scored less than three minutes into overtime. Tighe Hrabchak took the initial shot that the GMVS goalkeeper saved, and Peckinpaugh pounced on the rebound for the winning goal. Hartford will host a semifinal game on Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Stratton Mountain.

Records: Hartford 14-2-0; Green Mountain Valley 5-6-0

Peoples 1, Thetford 0

Highlights: Peoples scored the lone goal with 4:30 to play in the second half of the VPA D-III boys soccer quarterfinal.

Key players: Hanover — Sophia Mancini, Guinevere Riordan.

Highlights: Hanover, the No. 7 seed in Division II, beat Oyster River, the No. 2 seed, in overtime in a tournament quarterfinal in Durham. Mancini secured the win with an overtime goal with 2:34 left in the 10-minute period. Riordan had five saves in goal. Next up is semifinal action on Tuesday at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter at 5 p.m.

Key players: Hartford — Madi Barwood, Paige Trombly and Olivia Seaver.

Highlights: Barwood lead Hartford’s five-goal attack with a pair of goals in a VPA Division II quarterfinal victory. Seaver, Charlotte Jasmin and Marty Crasper also scored. Assists were credited to Trombly, Emmy Whitney, Barwood and Haily Vanesse.

Newfound 2, Stevens 1 (OT)

Highlights: The No. 2-seeded Cardinals lost in a shootout to No. 7 Newfound in Sunday’s NHIAA Division III quarterfinal matchup at Monadnock Park. Stevens led 1-0 until Newfound scored with less than a minute left in regulation to send the game to overtime. After two scoreless 10-minute periods, the Bears scored in the shootout. Stevens, which lost its first game of the year then went undefeated the rest of the regular season, finishes the year at 13-2-0.

Records: Newfound 10-6-1; Stevens 13-2-0

Girls Soccer

Windsor 1, Woodstock 0

Key players: Windsor — Sophia Dufour, Lilly Keefe.

Highlights: Dufour scored the lone goal in Windsor’s win over Woodstock in the VPA Division III quarterfinals, the assist coming from Lilly Keefe. Windsor, the No. 2 seed, will play Fair Haven, the No. 3 seed, in a semifinal match at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Records: Windsor 14-0-1; Woodstock 6-8-0

Stowe 2, Oxbow 0

Highlights: Oxbow played Stowe for the second year in a row in the first round of VPA D-III playoffs. Stowe, the four-time champions, were held to a 0-0 score by the Olympians going into halftime. Oxbow dominated the first half and had more shots on net than Stowe did. Going into the second half of the game, it was back and forth with equal play between the two teams and both having chances to put the ball in the back of net. Stowe broke the tie on an incredible shot. Play continued to go back and forth, with the Olympians getting chances but upon which they just could not capitalize. Stowe scored the insurance goal with about 15 minutes left to play. Oxbow continued to play hard and continued to have chances to score but was not able to put the ball in the net. Caleigh Bean was outstanding in net for the Olympians. Oxbow loses two seniors from this year’s team.

Hanover 2, Spaulding 0

Key players: Hanover — Reese Hamlin, Kat Moseley, Bumpsie Loughman, Grace Stewart.

Highlights: The Hanover girls took some time to adjust to a bumpy, variable pitch in Rochester, N.H., but managed to score a long arcing shot by Loughman late in the first half. The Bears moved toward better passing and possession in the second half, with Cosi Torresani finding the net off an assist from Malia Pratt.

Football

Woodstock 60, Windsor 0

Key players: Woodstock — Vince Petrone, Caeden Perreault, Aksel Oates.

Highlights: Woodstock’s Petrone recorded a team-high three rushing touchdowns, including a 72-yard rushing score, while Perreault also found the end zone twice en route to a victory in the VPA Division III quarterfinals. Oates recorded one passing touchdown, a 15-yard connection with Ben Runstein. Zane Peach, Cole Little and Boyd Schafer each tacked on rushing scores as well.
