Thetford boys cruise again
in UVM meet

BURLINGTON — The Thetford boys indoor track team won its fifth VTFOA Division II meet of the season in dominating fashion at the University of Vermont, racking up 137 points on the strength of three first-place finishes by Uly Junker, one by Brady Sloop and another from the 4x200-meter relay team.

The Panthers girls finished second, edged by U-32, 68-64. Theford’s Ava Hayden won the 1,600 meters (5:12), was second in the 3,200 and third in the 1,000.

Junker won the 55-meter dash (6.61 seconds), the 300 dash (35.97) and the long jump (6.54 meters). Sloop won the 1,600 meters (4:39), was third in the 600 run — with teammate Luke Miller second — added a fourth-place result in the 3,200 and was fifth in the 1,000. Junker, Evan Rich, Emmett Terry and Sebastian Perdrizet won the 4x200 (1:38). Rich was second in high jump and fourth in the long jump, and Matt Vivian of Thetford was fourth in the shot put.

Hartford’s Ayodele Lowe won the high jump (1.90), took second in the long jump and was sixth in the 55 meters. For Oxbow, Casey Wiedrick was fifth in the girls 600 meters and Rueben Keefe had a third place in the boys high jump. White River Valley’s Imari Taylor won the girls shot put (8.95).

Boys team scores: Thetford 137, U-32, 83, Hartford 55, Peoples 30.5, BFA-Fairfax 24, Rice 23, Green Mountain 20, Lake Region 16, Vergennes 15, Stowe 12, Oxbow (14th, 5.5), White River Valley (16th, 3).

Girls team scores: U-32 68, Thetford 64, Rice 48.5, Lake Region 35, Peoples 33, Spaulding 29, Milton 25, Middlebury Union 20, Bellows Falls 18, Northfield 17. White River Valley (13th, 10), Oxbow (15th, 8), Hartford (16th, 7).
