Local Roundup: Mascoma cross country finishes strong in Moonlight Madness race

Mascoma’s Currier second at Moonlight Madness
SWANZEY, N.H. — Mascoma senior Gunner Currier finished second at Friday’s Moonlight Madness 5K cross country race hosted by Monadnock Regional High School at Safford Park, pacing the Royals to second place among 12 teams.
Currier finished in 15:42, with Sullivan Sturtz of Keene winning the race in 14:56.
Also scoring for Mascoma were Trevor Maheu (10th), Carl Russell (13th) and Brody Albanese (21st). Bryce Palmer (24th) was the top finisher for Newport.
“Gunner and Trevor giving us top-10 finishes got us off to a great start, leading the way to a second-place finish,” Mascoma coach Rick Currier said. “Running under the lights was a lot of fun, and the atmosphere really fired the guys up.”

Highlights: Mill River defended well early on, but the Hartford offense eventually broke through on a free kick goal by Peckinpaugh. Highlights: Staff scored a free kick in the second half to level the game 1-1. With a few seconds left of the game, Jones picked out a pass to Proulx, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner to win the game.

Highlights: Pelton recorded her sixth shutout of the season in between the sticks for Stevens, while Ferland and Derosier each bagged a brace in the 4-0 win.

Highlights: McFarland and Liv Dube each scored two goals in the win. Windsor’s other goal scorers included Tenney, Mackenzie Kleefisch and Piper Vivian. Felice had two assists in the match as well.
