Boys Soccer

Hartford 6, Spaulding 0

Key players: Hartford — Owen McMahon, Jason Kelly, Tighe Hrabchak, Cavan Benjamin.

Highlights: Hartford opened the scoring at 29:51 of the first half in their VPA Division II tournament opener. Sam Peckinpaugh took a shot that hit the crossbar and rebounded to McMahon right in front of the net for the first goal. Benjamin collected a ball from a corner kick and scored from the top of the box with 28:22 left to double the lead. McMahon scored his second of the game at 17:29 on a through ball from Benjamin. Hrabchak scored the fourth goal on a nice assist from Jackson Jewett at 14:00. Jason Kelly tapped in the fifth goal of the first half at 2:26 on an assist by Hrabchak. Kelly score the only goal of the second half at 29:22. Hartford will host Green Mountain Valley School at Maxfield on Friday at 3 p.m.

Rivendell 2, Proctor 0

Key players: Rivendell — Will Knowles, Javen Welch, Evan Woodward.

Highlights: After a scoreless first half in this VPA D-IV tournament lidlifter, Knowles and Welch got the second-half goals for Rivendell for the win. Woodward was solid in goal with eighth saves to send the Raptors into a quarterfinal match with top seed Twin Valley on Friday night.

Thetford 1, Oxbow 0 (OT)

Highlights: Henry Trage with a golden goal in double overtime for the Panthers in a VPA Division III tournament first-rounder.

Randolph 3, White River Valley 1

Key players: WRV — WRV graduates seniors Ellis Bogardus, Donavan Craven, Paul Andrade, Brayden Russ, Sonny Snelling and Dylan Hatch.

Key players: Hanover — Dino Gavetti, Henry Cotter, Sam Ames, Gavin Munson.

Highlights: Freshman Gavetti had a goal and an assist to lead the Bears over Goffstown. After a scoreless first half, Gavetti and Ronan Przydzielski set up Munson for his seventh goal of the year. Gavetti iced the game in the 67th minute with his team-leading eighth strike. Cotter made seven saves to earn his eighth shutout and Hanover’s 10th. The win keeps Hanover in third in the NHIAA D-I standings. The Bears will host a first-round playoff game on Oct. 30.

Coach’s quote: “This was our best team defense of the season. Henry Cotter was superb in goal. Senior defenders Sam Ames and Schuyler Clapp anchored an airtight back four. Ten shutouts on the season is a significant achievement.” — Hanover’s Rob Grabill

Key players: Lebanon — Dom Calandrella, Miles Saunders.

Highlights: A frantic sequence with five minutes to play saw Merrimack Valley clear three consecutive shots off the line to keep the game scoreless.

Girls Soccer

Hanover 0, Goffstown 0 (OT)

Key players: Hanover — Sadie Ross, Grace Stewart, Nora Bradley, Bumpsie Loughman. Goffstown — Elle Lavalliere.

Highlights: Following a slow start, both teams picked up play to a high level, with good possession play and scoring opportunities for both sides during the first half. The Hanover girls raised their level during the second half, with a decided advantage in possession, but struggled to find the net as they fought off the dangerous Goffstown forwards. A tough-fought 0-0 tie.
