LYME — Voters on Tuesday approved the creation of Lyme Community Power from the floor, a move that will give the municipality more say in the purchase of electricity for residents.
By ballot, voters greenlighted zoning amendments that officially define solar energy systems and set standards for where solar arrays of various sizes can be placed in town, 286-61.
Voters rejected by paper ballot a proposal to discontinue a 1,400-foot, Class IV section of road between Shoestrap Road and Maple Lane, which would have stripped the public of their right to use the road, 146-12. They also voted against reclassifying that stretch of road as a Class A Trail, which would have made it a full public right of way subject to public trail restrictions, 127-31.
Residents passed a town operating budget of $2.82 million, up slightly from $2.76 million the previous year.
Nathaniel Niles defeated Rich Brown by a single vote for a three-year seat on the Planning Board.
David Kahn, running unopposed, has a new three-year seat on the Selectboard.
Elizabeth Glenshaw, Toby Summerfield and Murray Washburn were elected to three-year seats on the School Board. Summerfield and Washburn were write-in candidates.
