BRIDGEWATER — A 28-year-old Bridgewater man suffered major injuries and is facing criminal charges after he allegedly crossed a double-yellow line and crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle on Route 4 in Bridgewater earlier this month.

Asa Amirkaiee was driving westbound on Route 4 at a high rate of speed and passing motor vehicles when the 2007 Toyota Camry he was driving crossed the double-yellow line and collided head-on into an oncoming truck in the eastbound lane driven by a 37-year-old woman from Claremont on the early evening of Friday, Dec. 8, Vermont State Police said in a new release on Wednesday.

Amirkalee was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with “major” injuries, police said. The driver of the other vehicle, Christina Pruden, was transported with DHMC with “minor” injuries, according to the news release.

Amirkaiee, a graduate of Woodstock Union High School, has been charged with one count of grossly negligent operation and one count of operating a vehicle under the influence, and cited to appear in Windsor County Superior Court on March 26, the news release said.
