PIERMONT — Residents approved a $1.05 million proposal to build a new town office building during Saturday’s Town Meeting at Piermont Village School.

The vote was 59 to 13, according to preliminary results provided by Piermont Town Administrator Sarah Tucker.

Voters reduced the proposed town budget of $1.28 million by $32,405. The reduction eliminates funding for Warren-Wentworth Ambulance Services, which provides coverage to East Piermont, Tucker said. Upper Valley Ambulance covers the entire town and will continue to do so.

Residents also amended an article to increase the town clerk’s hourly pay rate from $23 as warned to $30.

They also halved the amount of money given to the Red Cross, from $800 to $400.

Voters approved a sewer budget of $44,000, with the bulk of the cost to come from user fees and the remainder from the state.

Residents also granted the Selectboard the authority to set when Bean Brook Pool will close and open each year, along with its hours of operation.
