Republican unseats Democrat in Weathersfield-area House race

In Tuesday’s voting, Cavendish Republican VL Coffin beat Democrat incumbent Mark D. Yuengling, of Perkinsville, for a House seat representing Baltimore, Cavendish and Weathersfield.

Coffin earned 1,417 votes to Yuengling’s 1,273.

Retired from the U.S. Army, Coffin has never previously held elected office. Yuengling has served on the Weathersfield School Board for five terms.
