ORFORD — Rivendell Interstate School District seeks volunteers to serve as committee members as the district prepares to implement a three-year plan that will close one of its schools.

At a November meeting, the Rivendell School Board approved a three-year budget plan to transition to multi-age classrooms in the elementary schools — Westshire Elementary School in West Fairlee and Samuel Morey Elementary School in Fairlee — in the 2025-26 school year, and then move Samuel Morey students to Rivendell Academy in Orford the following year.

“We know that this vote is just the first step,” Board Chairwoman Kathy Hooke wrote in a Listserv post. “It will take a lot of planning to ensure that each of these transitions goes well. We also acknowledge that there is much we don’t yet know that could impact our ultimate decisions.”

The board is forming committees to determine how best to implement the changes. People who are interested in serving on the committees are invited to fill out an online survey at: shorturl.at/acoUX.
