NORTH HAVERHILL — A 33-year-old Vermont man currently serving time for robbing a convenience store has pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a minor in Lebanon police sting operation.

Joey Sherwood, formerly of Rutland, pleaded guilty to charges of gross lewdness with a child, using a computer for a prohibited use and attempted penetration of a juvenile in Grafton Superior Court on Jan. 31 and was sentenced to 90 days in Grafton County House of Corrections, according to court records.

The jail sentence will be served concurrently with Sherwood's sentence in federal prison where he is incarcerated after being convicted of robbing a convenience store at knife point in Wallingford, Vt., in 2021, one of four store robberies around Vermont he admitted to committing at the time. 

Sherwood was charged in 2020 with attempting to meet a juvenile in a Lebanon parking lot for sex he had solicited over social media. The “juvenile” turned out to be a child sex sting operation run by the police.
