HARTFORD — Vendors are needed for Vital Communities’ new Home Creators Expo.

The event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center, 1 Gifford Road, White River Junction. Vital Communities is seeking architects, engineers and contractors who can talk to homeowners about building accessory dwelling units, also known as ADUs. The deadline to apply is March 20 and more information can be found at vitalcommunities.org/events/2023-home-creators-expo/.

“The Upper Valley needs hundreds of new affordable houses and apartments. Many of these new units can be built by converting part of or adding on to existing homes or placing another home on the lot,” according to a news release from the White River Junction-based nonprofit organization. “These ADUs fit in with our neighborhoods, create income for owners, enable accessible living spaces for seniors, provide places for needed workers to live, increase economic activity in the area, help keep school enrollment steady, and save on energy.”
