VERSHIRE — The Selectboard is scheduled to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new town garage this week, according to a news release.

The event will be held on Thursday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at 815 Vershire Center Road.

The new garage will replace the current garage that was built in 1969 and is energy inefficient and too small for modern equipment.

Voters approved a $1.53 million bond for the project last June. More recently, the Selectboard has signed a contract with East Barre, Vt.-based Lajeunesse Construction.
