BETHEL — A week after being elected, Eijah “Alvi” Reed resigned from the Selectboard.

At its meeting Monday, the Selectboard moved to accept Reed’s resignation. The agenda states the resignation was for “personal reasons.”

Reed ran unopposed for the two-year term on the Selectboard and received 202 votes by Australian ballot during Town Meeting voting day on March 4. He attended the first Selectboard meeting on March 10, before submitting his resignation two days later.

The board is looking to appoint someone to fill the vacancy until the March 2026 Town Meeting.

“I know there’s definitely interest but I don’t think anyone’s submitted a formal letter yet,” Dietre Feeney, the town’s financial clerk, said in a phone interview Wednesday.

Residents interested in filling the board vacancy can submit a letter of interest to Town Manager Therese Kirby at betheltownfinance@comcast.net by April 7.
