WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Freshman Charlotte Jasmin scored 19 points, 14 of them in the second half, to lead the Hartford High girls basketball team past rival Woodstock, 38-23, on Wednesday night.

Madi Willey added 10 points for the Hurricanes, with six of hers coming in the first quarter. Hartford's lead was just 17-13 at the half. Georgia Tarleton led the Wasps with 10 points.

The Canes (6-4) are at Otter Valley on Friday, while Woodstock (3-7) is at Burr & Burton on Saturday.

Fall Mountain 55, Newport 49

LANGDON, N.H. — The Tigers (2-6) fell to the Wildcats on the road. Newport is back in action Thursday at Kearsarge.

Green Mountain 37, Mid Vermont Christian 19

CHESTER, Vt. — The Eagles fell to 2-5 with the loss to the Chieftains and will host Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Vt. — The Panthers improved to 6-1 with the 20-point road win over the Blue Devils. Thetford jumped out to a 19-7 lead after the opening quarter.

Mitchell Parkman led Thetford with 19 points, Dempsey McGovern added 16 and Boone Fahey had 10. McGovern knocked down four of the Panthers' six 3-pointers.

Thetford is back home Friday to take on Lamoille.

Newport 57, Fall Mountain 54

LANGDON, N.H. — The Tigers' turnaround continued with their second win over the Wildcats this season. Newport evened its record at 4-4 and will host Kearsarge on Friday.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hurricanes won their ninth straight game following an 0-2 start, blowing out the winless Marauders at Barwood Arena.

Ozzie DeFelice and Joseph Barwood each recorded a hat trick, Blaine Gour scored twice, and Ezra Mock, James McReynolds, Jaden Porier and Nolan Morlock had a goal apiece.

Morlock, Matt Hayes and Cavan Benjamin each had two assists, while McReynolds, Gour, Barwood, DeFelice, Mock, Logan Caffrey and Connor Tierney all had one.

Hartford (9-2) used three goaltenders — Sean Keliher, Nick Facto and Frankie Cushing — in the shutout, with the trio combining for nine saves. The Canes are at U-32 on Saturday.

Middlebury 5, Woodstock 0

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The Wasps were shut out by the Tigers, falling to 3-5. Woodstock hosts Stowe on Saturday.

GIRLS HOCKEYWoodstock 6, Missisquoi Valley 3

WOODSTOCK — The Wasps jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period and doubled up the visiting Thunderbirds at Union Arena.

Kassidy Haley scored three goals and added an assist for Woodstock, which won its fifth straight. Gracelyn Laperle, Maggie Mello and Isabel Konijnenberg each scored once.

Missisquoi scored three times in the second to make it a one-goal game entering the final period, but the Wasps struck twice in the last three minutes to pull away. Laperle had two assists, while Konijnenberg and Lily Gubbins both had one.

Woodstock (9-2) is at rival Hartford on Saturday in another rematch of the 2022 VPA Division II title game. The Wasps defeated the Hurricanes for the championship last year, and they also handed Hartford a 7-5 loss on Dec. 28.

WRESTLINGMascoma splits with Plymouth, Kearsarge

WEST CANAAN — The Royals fell to Plymouth, the top team in NHIAA Division III, by a score of 68-6, with Mascoma's points coming from junior Damian Nestle, who won by pin in the third round. Mascoma defeated Kearsarge, 48-24, going 1-1 in the tri-meet.

The Royals will wrestle in Concord on Saturday, along with Plymouth, Souhegan, Pinkerton and Nashua South.
