Local roundup: Hartford boys basketball beats Windsor, runs win streak to six
WINDSOR — Make that a six pack of wins for the Hartford High boys basketball team. The Hurricanes took down host Windsor, 66-36, on Friday night for their sixth straight win.
Brady Olmstead had three 3-pointers and 23 points to pace the VPA Division II Canes (8-1). Maison Fortin had 14 points for the D-III Yellowjackets (3-7).
Hartford opened the game with 19 points in the first quarter and led, 34-19, at halftime. Brody Tyburski added 15 points for Hartford, Joey Beggs added nine and Christian Hathorn had eight.
The Canes go for seven in a row at home against Milton on Monday.
Corey Lockwood added nine points for Windsor, which is back in action at Springfield on Tuesday.
THETFORD — The Panthers held a 19-1 lead after a quarter and led 27-3 at halftime, not allowing a field goal until late in the second quarter.
Dempsey McGovern led Thetford (7-1) with 13 points, Jacob Gilman added 12 and Dillon Vance chipped in with nine. The Panthers host undefeated Spaulding on Monday.
RICHFORD, Vt. — The Eagles dropped a road contest with Richford, falling to 9-3 with the loss. Richford has handed Mid Vermont two of its three defeats.

BRANDON, Vt. — Charlotte Jasmin had 23 points to help the Hurricanes (7-4) to their second straight win.
The Canes closed this one out on the defensive end, outscoring the Otters 10-5 in the fourth quarter. Jasmin made four 3-pointers on her way to the game-high point total. Kamryn Brower added eight points for Hartford.
Up next for the Canes is a visit to Woodstock on Monday night.
