Despite a slow start, this winter saw a good snowfall throughout New Hampshire, providing a boost to the state’s snow-sports industry.

Ski New Hampshire, an industry lobbying group, said an estimated 2.42 million visits were made to the state’s alpine, cross-country and tubing sites this past winter, marking a 3% increase over last year and 6% higher than the 10-year average.

Most of those visits to alpine, or downhill, ski areas, which saw 2.22 million visits, up 3% year-over-year and 7% above the decade-long trend.

Cross-country areas continue to struggle with erratic snowfall. These venues had an estimated 99,548 visits, which is 14% higher than the previous warm and dry winter but a full 12% below the 10-year average. Tubing saw an estimated 103,833 visits, 3% year-over-year increase, but 4% below the 10-year average.

Many ski resorts have shifted to summer operations, offering activities such as scenic lift rides, ziplines, mountain coasters, golf, mountain biking and adventure parks.
