Outlook: The Hurricane boys are a talented and deep group that return most of the athletes who helped win the state meet.

“The boys team has come off a very successful spring season and with the addition of 13 more boy athletes we should be very competitive this year,” Coach Mike Perry said. “As of now, we look pretty strong across the board. Many of the returning boys were point getters in the championship meet last year.

“On the girls side we have a small team but with the returning girls leading the way I believe we will have a better showing then last year.”

Outlook: Both the boys and girls teams lost most of their top athletes to graduation and while the boys will be looking to rebuild and gain experience, the large girls teams could improve upon last year’s finish.

“The Lebanon boys are in a true rebuilding year with only three indoor track returners,” Coach Kevin Lozeau said. “Led by captains Ryle Isuga and Nick Engert, the boys do have some young talent this season and will look to gain valuable experience before the outdoor season.”

“The girls also graduated most of the team and only have two returners, but the addition of a large number of new sophomores and freshmen make this year’s team three times larger than the previous season,” Lozeau said. “While the girls are largely a very young team, many of the newcomers have track experience from middle school, and the team will look to improve upon their finish from last year.”

MASCOMA

Coach: Rick Currier (2 years)

Last year: Neither boys nor girls scored at the state meet.

League: NHIAA Division II

Returnees: Juniors: Gunner Currier, Jenney Lutz, Trevor Maheu. Sophomores: Brayden Bashaw, Carter Nadeau

Newcomers: Juniors: Emily Brewster, Emma Colburn, Neil Rugg. Sophomores: Liam Carriere, Barnaby Diehn, Georgia Kondi, Audrey Webber. Freshmen: Alex Boulton, Izzy Currier, Alex Deserranno, Karley Hollis, Sam Joyce, Carl Russell.

Outlook: While the Royals did not perform well at last year’s indoor track meet, the team is encouraged going into this year with notable performances in the outdoor season and recently completed cross country campaign.

Sophomore Georgia Kondi represented the outdoor team at New Englands in June, Emily Brewster was fifth in Division III state meet in shot put and Gunner Currier was fifth at the Division III cross country state meet in October with teammates Trevor Maheu and Carl Russell helping the team to a third place finish. Despite a lot of turnover and a young squad, Coach Rick Currier has reason to be optimistic with a solid core of performers and some promising freshmen.

“Our freshmen had very good success in middle school though and many will contribute right away at our smaller meets,” Currier said. “Georgia Kondi, Emily Brewster, Jenney Lutz, Gunner Currier, Carter Nadeau, and Barnaby Diehn could all contend to score for us at states.”

Outlook: Coach Charlie Buttrey is optimistic about the prospects for success with a “large, energetic and enthusiastic” team.

“Indoor track is the only team sport at Thetford Academy which competes at the D-II level, and our athletes welcome the challenge,” Buttrey said. “We benefit enormously from the coaching excellence of Thetford Academy’s cross-country program, so we expect to be strong, again, in the distance events, but we have the potential to be very good both on the track and in the field events.”
